9 weeks until Christmas, what do you need to do to get paid by Christmas?
I know it seems early to be talking about Christmas, we’ve not yet had Halloween, or Bonfire Night however if you are on 60 day terms, you already need to be thinking about actions to get paid by Christmas.
Even if you’re not on 60 day terms, here’s a run down for you of things you should be thinking about over the next 9 weeks!
9 Weeks, what do you need to do to get paid before Christmas?
24 October | 9 weeks to go
Start thinking about what you need to do in the lead up to Christmas because time’s going to fly. If you have customers on 60 day payment terms, prepare and send your invoices now to make sure you get paid in the week before Christmas. That’s the week beginning Monday 19 December.
31 October | 8 weeks to go
Don’t be spooked by those customer terms. Read their terms carefully to make sure you’re not starting work under a contract with different payment terms from yours. You may have already seen, payment terms are big news this week. Appointment of Late Payments “Tsar” is running late but expected 2017
Build customer relationships. You may want to let your customers know when you’ll be open for business over the Christmas period. Perhaps you need to give them an out of hours contact number.
12 December | 2 weeks to go
2017 will be here before you know it. Update your customer and contact list so you can be ready to hit the ground running in January. It’s all about keeping those good customer relationships that helps you get paid.
19 December | 1 week to go
Reconcile and check what you’ve been paid and if you have outstanding invoices, pick up the phone. It’s the last chance and those 60 day and 30 days invoices are due.

Friday 23 December the last official working day before Christmas and you can enjoy the festivities because you were paid on time.
Christmas Day is Sunday 25th December.
Don’t forget the two statutory holidays Monday 26th December and Tuesday 27 December.
